Academic Position at the Department of Agrochemistry, Soil Science, Microbiology and Plant Nutrition, Faculty of AgriSciences

Research Area: soil microbiology

The Department of Agrochemistry, Soil Science, Microbiology and Plant Nutrition specializes in the area of plant nutrition focusing on nitrogen and sulfur, foliar nutrition, the effects of drought, and new materials for fertilizer development. Key topics in soil science include the long-term effects of external inputs, soil organic matter, and soil classification. In the field of soil microbiology, experts focus on the availability of nutrients to plants, increased infiltration and water retention, and the functional diversity of the soil microbiome.

What will be your job responsibilities?

  • collaboration on the educational activities of the soil microbiology department
  • collaboration on lectures in Czech and English
  • supervision, consultation, and assessment of students’ final theses
  • leading and evaluating biological experiments
  • active participation in solving research projects and grants, including international ones
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • at least a university degree at the Ph.D. level in agriculture
  • excellent knowledge of Czech (C1) and advanced knowledge of English (B2)
  • experience teaching in Czech and English
  • experience supervising students’ final theses at least as a consultant
  • active participation in scientific projects
  • publication activity

What research experience do we require?

  • experience in preparing and implementing research projects
  • experience with field experiments, organic farming
  • experience with laboratory analyses in the field of soil microbiology

Duration of employment: limited period of 3 years with the possibility of extension
