We open a new Postdoc position in research on the structure and dynamics of forest ecosystems using terrestrial and drone-based laser scanning data. Join us in projects focused on automated acquisition of inventory and structural characteristics of trees and forest stands at various spatial scales.
Contract Type: full-time or part-time fixed-term employment contract
Term : 2 years starting immediately (or as agreed); prolongation anticipated
Location : Brno, Lidická Street
Requirements :
Ph.D. in ecology, forestry, geoinformatics, earth sciences, remote sensing, computer science, or a related field
Knowledge of programming and data analysis (e.g., R, Python, C++, SQL)
Ability to work independently in scientific research
Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to work in a team
Ability to write and publish scientific texts in English
Experience with processing LiDAR data (TLS, ULS, ALS) and international cooperation is an advantage.
Key Tasks:
Searching for, implementing, optimizing, and developing algorithms for LiDAR data analysis
Analyzing laser scanning data in relation to other variables (local biodiversity, management, environmental gradients, etc.)
Collecting and processing LiDAR data in big extent
Working with virtual forest scenes and simulated data for testing, optimizing, and developing algorithms
International collaboration
Preparing scientific publications and participating in professional conferences.
