The Research group of Chromatin Molecular Complexes (Prof. Jiří Fajkus), Mendel Centre for Plant Genomics and Proteomics, CEITEC, Masaryk University, opens a Ph.D. student position in a newly awarded project Signal integration and epigenetic reprogramming for plant productivity (SINGING PLANT).
The successful candidate should be a highly motivated researcher holding MSc. degree in any of related disciplines – biochemistry, molecular biology, genomics or similar. A background in plant physiology, plant molecular biology, and epigenetics will be a strong asset. Good communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in spoken and written English are required.
The project funding and an adequate salary are available for the whole Ph.D. studentship period, i.e., up to four years.

An increasing number of studies suggests a tight link between epigenetic regulation and plant hormone signaling. The dissertation thesis will aim to describe regulators and mechanisms involved in stress response and use this information in targeted crop improvement. A successful candidate will study factors controlling integration of various environmental signaling pathways with hormonal and epigenetic regulators of developmental and growth responses. The key regulatory components involved in the link between epigenetic and hormonal regulations will be described in model plants as well as in selected crops.
We expect to apply approaches of epigenomics (RNA seq, ChIP-seq, bisulfite DNA sequencing) and bioinformatic analyses of NGS data, plant molecular physiology, biochemistry and cell biology.
