The Department of Mathematics provides instruction in subjects focused on the use of mathematics and geometry for most fields at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology and also for several fields at the Faculty of Agronomy. The role of the department consists of working with students, fostering rigorous thinking, creating an overview of the possibilities of using quantitative methods, improving spatial imagination, and graphical expression skills.

What will your job entail?

  • Planning, organization, and oversight of all aspects of the department’s activities
  • Management of the department’s budget and resources
  • Leadership of academic and research staff, including regular evaluation
  • Teaching and research activities in the field
  • Ensuring a high quality of education and student guidance
  • Support for research activities and securing grants for the department
  • Collaboration with other departments

What do we expect from you?

  • A university degree – minimum Ph.D. in mathematics, geometry, or a related field; holding the title of associate professor or professor is an advantage
  • Excellent active knowledge of Czech, knowledge of English for teaching and publishing purposes
  • Demonstrable research activities in mathematics, geometry, or related fields, experience publishing in journals with IF, and managing research projects at both domestic and international levels
  • Ability to navigate labor law regulations and economic rules in higher education
  • Organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • Ability to work both in teams and independently
  • Personal and professional predispositions for teaching activities
  • Willingness to work on personal development and professional growth
