PhD Position
Institute of Psychology, Czech Academy of Sciences (Brno) & Masaryk University
We invite applications for a full-time PhD to join the project “On our own: opportunities and risks of individualising society” (CZ.02.01.01/00/23_025/0008710), co-financed by the European Union at the Institute of Psychology, Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno, with doctoral enrolment at Masaryk University.
You will join the Brno Lab of Intergroup Processes—an active, supportive, and collaborative research group—and work closely with Sylvie Graf and Tibor Žingora.
Project focus
You will research polarization and intergenerational relations in the context of an increasingly individualised society. Your work will be guided by theory-driven questions about how attitudes and relations evolve across generations, using rigorous quantitative methods such as structural equation modelling of longitudinal data.
Responsibilities
Develop and conduct a PhD project aligned with the project’s themes
Contribute to study design, data collection/management, and quantitative analysis
Co-author publications and present at international conferences
Collaborate within the Brno-based team and project partners
Requirements
Strong interest in the project topics (polarization, intergenerational relations, individualisation of society)
Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, or a related field
Solid quantitative skills (e.g., R/Stata/Python); experience with longitudinal/survey data is an advantage
Excellent English (written & spoken)
Able to reside in the Czech Republic by the start date
