Dean of the Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University announces an open competition for the position:

Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence

Job description key points

The position is focused on both teaching and research. The candidates are expected to carry out research of excellent quality in Artificial Intelligence and take responsibility for lectures and tutorials in courses included in the Czech bachelor study program Informatics (https://www.fi.muni.cz/catalogue-current/?program=bc_inf_cz) and the Master study program Artificial Intelligence and Data Processing (https://www.fi.muni.cz/catalogue-current/?program=nmgr_umi_cz).

In particular, the candidates should be able to prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials at the bachelor as well as master level in the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence;
  • Machine Learning;
  • Processing and Analysis of Large-scale Data.

The candidates should show a large amount of flexibility in teaching subjects that are not directly related to their particular areas of research. They are expected to help with supervising undergraduate as well as graduate students and attract research projects to fund their research activities.

The successful candidate must have

  • PhD in Computer Science;
  • Existing track record in research;
  • Experience in teaching and supervising small projects;
  • Passion for problem-solving and desire to work with students;
  • Dynamic, flexible personality, able to work well in teams;
  • Ability to teach in Czech or Slovak (minimum level C1 or native speaker);
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written); other language(s) welcome;
  • Experience from other countries than the Czech and Slovak Republics (at least one year).

Desired skills and achievements:

  • PhD in computer science;
  • Experience with active participation in research projects;
  • Ability to work well in interdisciplinary teams.

  • CV, including a summary of work experience, publication activity, teaching, involvement in research grants, etc.;
  • Copy of diploma from the highest level of education (notarial certification not required);
  • Cover letter explaining the candidate’s motivation and interest in obtaining the position;
  • Title and abstract of a lecture in English for public on a topic within Artificial Intelligence, where the aim of the lecture is to test the candidate’s teaching skills;
  • The names and contact details of three professional referees.
