Přehled
The Extreme Light Infrastructure ERIC (ELI ERIC) is the world’s largest and most advanced high-power laser research infrastructure. As an international user facility dedicated to multi-disciplinary science, ELI provides access to world-class high-power, high-repetition-rate laser systems and enables cutting-edge research, as well as breakthrough technological innovations. The ELI ERIC operates as a single multi-site organization with two complementary facilities specialized in different fields of research with extreme light: ELI Beamlines in Dolní Břežany (Czech Republic) and ELI ALPS in Szeged (Hungary).
ELI Beamlines Facility operates four cutting-edge high-power femtosecond laser systems reaching unprecedented intensities. The operational laser systems make unique femtosecond sources of X-rays and accelerated particles available to scientific users for pioneering research in physical, chemical, materials, life and medical sciences as well as physics of dense plasmas, warm dense matter, and laboratory astrophysics. The ELI Beamlines Facility employs over 350 researchers, engineers and other professionals from more than 38 countries.
We’re looking for a Linux expert who’s ready to take ownership — not just of systems, but of a small team. You’ll be the go-to person for Linux infrastructure, lead day-to-day operations, and help junior admins grow. No on-call roulette, no cloud-native rewrites. Just solid, meaningful infrastructure work in a stable environment.
Linux Administration Team Lead (314)
Job description:
- Day-to-day operation of Linux servers across physical, virtualized and hybrid environments — RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu
- Lifecycle management: patching, hardening, performance, decommissioning — done right, not just done
- Automation with Ansible and Bash — reduce toil, enforce consistency, build reusable playbooks
- Monitoring and observability using Grafana, Elastic and Zabbix — you’ll know when things break before the users do
- Incident coordination — calm, structured, documented. You’ll lead resolution and write the post-mortem
Requirements:
- You’ve been doing Linux administration for several years and want more responsibility without switching to pure management
- You enjoy automating things that shouldn’t need human attention
- You care about documentation and operational standards — not as bureaucracy, but as respect for your future self
- You can explain a complex incident to a non-technical stakeholder without making them feel stupid
- You’re comfortable with network fundamentals and can have a real conversation with a network engineer
We offer:
- The opportunity to participate in this unique scientific project
- Competitive and motivating salary
- Flexible working hours
- Career growth
- 5 weeks of holidays and 6 days of personal leave
- Support of leisure time activities
- Other employee benefits
