The HBV Cure group at IOCB Prague, led by Dr. Gabriel Birkuš, is focused on discovering novel therapies to treat chronic hepatitis B, cancer, and inflammatory disorders.

We are looking for a highly motivated technician to join our multidisciplinary team and participate in various aspects of molecular biology, cell biology, and immunology for in vitro and in vivo experiments for a project focused on the development of STING activators.

Work description:

  • Participate in in vivo experiments with mice, including tumor measurements, blood and organ collection and processing, as well as injections
  • Analyze immune responses by using qPCR and cytokine immunoprecipitation
  • Perform immunofluorescence and FACS analysis
  • Conduct immunochemical testing, western blots, antibody preparation, and work with tissue cultures
  • Prepare expression constructs and stable cell lines
  • Process and analyze data using specialized programs such as Prism GraphPad, ImageJ, or FlowJo

Required knowledge and skills:

  • University degree (bachelor’s or master’s) with a preference in a field related to immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioanalytics, or pharmacy
  • Previous laboratory experience in a biochemistry/molecular biology setting
  • Proficiency in standard molecular biology/biochemistry techniques
  • Certification for animal handling is advantageous
  • Independence, accountability, reliability, and the ability to quickly adapt to changes in experiments
  • High level of time flexibility
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong communication skills in English (both spoken and written)
