In accordance with the The Competitive Hiring Process Code of Charles University, the Dean of the Faculty of Science of Charles University announces a competitive hiring process with a deadline for applications February 27, 2026

The position offered is a maternity leave replacement (minimum 2 years or more). The position involves research in areas of interest to the laboratory, including: bacteriocins, toxins and other substances acting on the lipid bilayer, physical properties of biological membranes, protein conformations. 

An essential part of the job will also be teaching practical exercises: basic microbiology (6-8 weeks per semester), bacterial physiology (2 weeks per semester), and possibly indirect teaching of bachelor’s, master’s, and/or doctoral students.

Qualifications

● Practical experience in the field and knowledge of microbiological methods, genetic engineering, recombinant production and purification of proteins, working with DNA and proteins, statistical data processing, graphical representation of processed data ● Experience in managing grant projects as a principal investigator or co-investigator ● Experience in supervising students at least at the bachelor’s level, teaching skills, publishing activity ● Knowledge of statistical/graphical programs is an advantage (e.g., OriginPro, QtiPlot, Gnuplot, Fityk, QuB, R)
