ABOUT THE POSITION

The Faculty of Economics (FEC) at the University of West Bohemia invites applications for a Distinguished Researcher / Professor (R3/R4) position to strengthen its research excellence and international visibility.
At FEC, you will have the opportunity to:
• Shape the future of research through acquisition and participation in prestigious international programmes such as Horizon Europe and the EU PEACE European University Alliance.
• Lead and co-create large-scale interdisciplinary projects tackling pressing societal and technological challenges.
• Collaborate within a dynamic, supportive, and international research environment with full institutional backing, including our Centre of Project Activities (SPA), which provides complete methodological, administrative, and strategic support for successful grant acquisition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and conduct innovative, high-impact research within one of FEC’s core research areas.
Actively apply for and manage competitive international or national research grants, including Horizon Europe and Czech Science Foundation.
Publish in high-impact international journals and contribute to the Faculty’s research excellence.
Supervise Ph.D. students and mentor junior researchers.
Collaborate with international research consortia and establish strategic partnerships.
Support knowledge transfer and contribute to interdisciplinary projects with societal relevance.

Established Researcher (R3)

1. Quantitative Methods in Economics & Finance
• Performance and stability analysis of firms and public organizations using advanced statistical methods and Business Intelligence tools.
• Forecasting developments in stock and commodity markets.
• Financial technologies (FinTech), including quantitative methods, data mining, machine learning, and AI applications. Macroeconomic research on monetary policy, financial stability, banking sector dynamics, housing affordability, labor markets (e.g., productivity-pay gap, gender-pay gap).
• Behavioral economics (risk, time, and social preferences) and applied research in management science, including transport optimization.

2. Tourism, Regional Development & Destination Management
• Systemic and spatial aspects of tourism development and regional economic growth.
• Economic, social, and environmental impacts of tourism and destination management.
• Application of complexity theory, systems thinking, and simulation modeling.
• Stakeholder management, marketing strategies, and customer satisfaction modeling.
• Both basic and applied research, including contract research for public and private stakeholders.

3. Marketing, Management & Digital Transformation
• Management and marketing research addressing technological and societal challenges.
• Human resource management in the context of digitalization and demographic shifts.
• Gender diversity, workplace sustainability, and organizational performance.
• Consumer behavior, generational marketing, and AI applications in marketing processes.
• Adoption of digital technologies, sustainability, and circular business models.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Economics, Business, Finance, Management, Social-economic Geography, or related fields.
• Strong track record of high-quality publications in recognized international journals.
• Proven success in leading or participating in competitive research projects.
• Experience in mentoring early-career researchers.
• International research experience and a strong professional network.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary environments.
