In accordance with the The Competitive Hiring Process Code of Charles University, the Dean of the Faculty of Science of Charles University announces a competitive hiring process with a deadline for applications May 25, 2024

We are seeking a creative, motivated candidate to join the team of the Laboratory of Cell Morphogenesis at the Department of Experimental Plant Biology and participate in their research in the field of cell biology with a focus on membrane trafficking, the cytoskeleton and cell polarity (see https://sites.google.com/natur.cuni.cz/labcellmorphogenesis/). The position is funded by the EU-sponsored Johann Amos Comenius Program project TANGENC (TowArds Next GENeration Crops) registration number CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004581. Required attachments of the application are: Attachment 1: Contact details of two references. Attachment 2: Brief (up to 2 pages incl. cited literature) prospective research proposal in the form of an essay identifying a scientifically interesting research question related to the topics studied in the host lab and outlining experimental approaches to address this question.

In justified cases, e.g., if the applicant completes his doctoral studies in the period between the submission of the application and the date of starting the employment relationship, the applicant must provide proof of the completed doctoral studies before signing the employment contract.

 

Candidates who progress to the second round of the selection procedure will be invited for an interview. The interview may be conducted by means of information and communication technology if justified, at the request of the candidate. The Committee may invite selected candidates to give a lecture to the academic community of the Faculty.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant field obtained not earlier than in 2017 (elapsed time may be extended by time spent on parental leave or serious health reasons). The candidate should demonstrate relevant first or senior author publication history, scientific enthusiasm and deep contextual understanding in the field of cell biology (preferentially with focus on membrane trafficking, the cytoskeleton and cell polarity). Experience with plant experimental systems is welcome but not essential. The candidate should show familiarity with topics studied in the prospective host lab (see below), as well as the ability to formulate a brief proposal summarizing scientific intentions. Preliminary consultation with the respective group leaders is strongly encouraged.
