WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking to fill a Researcher II (postdoc) position in morphology or syntax at the Department of Czech Language. The successful candidate will work on one or more of the areas of study of the project Gradience and variation in natural language (PI Guy Tabachnick), which is focused on quantitative and theoretical research of gradience and variable phenomenon, primarily in inflectional paradigms and the syntax of clitics, as well as other areas of syntax.
MAIN JOB CONTENT
- Independent performance of specialized research and development work.
- Work within a research team/group.
- Publishing research results (ideally in Q1 journals).
- Presenting research results at conferences.
- Type of research:
- quantitative research (corpus studies/experiments, e.g. wug tests) of gradience and variable phenomena,
- theoretical analysis of these phenomena.
- Subject of research:
- inflectional allomorphy and the organization of inflectional paradigms (e.g. inference between paradigm cells), or syntax, especially agreement or clitics, or the influence of phonology on syntax.
Other
Carrying out administrative activities related to the position.
WE REQUEST
- The candidate must have a Ph.D. in linguistics or a related field. In the ideal case, the candidate will have a PhD in hand by the start date or shortly thereafter.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 2 publications (article, book, book chapter, letter or review) in WoS/Scopus within the last 3 years. The postdoc is the main (first/corresponding) author of at least one of these publications. Alternative publication records will be considered.
- Prior work on the research topic and/or experience with research projects is an advantage
Language skills
- Knowledge of English at the C1 level.
- Knowledge of Czech is not required.
