Research area: analytical chemistry – mass spectrometry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is one of 14 departments of the Faculty of AgriSciences at Mendel University in Brno. The UCB team consists of 80 employees who ensure the scientific and pedagogical development in the following areas: biochemistry (both plant and animal) and molecular biology, microbiology, algal and plant biotechnologies, nanotechnology, and bioanalytical chemistry. In the pedagogical field, the UCB team focuses on the provision and development of 2 study programs – undergraduate studies in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and postgraduate studies in Biological Chemistry.

What will your job role?

  • leading lectures, exercises, and excursions in the field of analytical chemistry
  • collaborating on lectures in both Czech and English
  • supervising, consulting, and reviewing students‘ final theses
  • developing educational, scientific, research, and creative activities in the area of analytical chemistry
  • actively participating in solving research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • university degree at least at the doctoral level
  • knowledge of the English language at least at B1 level
  • experience in teaching in both Czech and English
  • experience in supervising students‘ final theses at least as a consultant
  • developing educational, scientific, research, and creative activities in the given area
  • active participation in solving research projects and grants
  • publishing results of scientific research in professional journals and at conferences and seminars

What research experience do we require?

  • proven practice in research in the field of analytical chemistry, utilizing mass spectrometry for at least 3 years
  • at least 10 publication outputs in a professional journal or at a conference
  • experience working on research projects in the role of researcher/co-researcher or team member
