Non-academic position at the Department of Fruit Science, Faculty of Horticulture
Research area: applied fruit science
The Department provides teaching in profile subjects such as Fruit Growing, Fruit Nursery and Tropical and Subtropical Fruit Growing, as well as specialised subjects such as Disease Diagnosis of Horticultural Crops. In the area of research, the Department has long been involved in the study of fruit species, evaluation, introduction and breeding of apricot, peach, pear, plum and rootstock varieties. An important part of these activities is research into resistance of the genus Prunus to plum pox virus and ESFY phytoplasma. The apricot and peach gene pools and the Asian pear and Asian plum collections are used for study and research activities. Equally important activities include the introduction of subtropical and non-traditional fruit species.
What will be your job role?
- preparing and conducting field and laboratory experiments on fruit growth, development and quality
- collecting and analysing samples (leaves, fruit, soil)
- processing the data received
- working with researchers to prepare reports, presentations and scientific publications
- maintaining and calibrating laboratory and field equipment
What do we expect from you?
- Master’s degree in natural/agricultural sciences
- active knowledge of Czech and English
- ability to work independently in the field, collect, evaluate and process data
- publication activity
- honest and ethical approach to work
