Non-academic position at the Department of Fruit Growing, Faculty of Horticulture
Research area: applied fruit research
We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.
The department provides education in specialized subjects such as fruit growing, fruit nursery management, and horticulture of tropical and subtropical fruits, as well as in specialized subjects like the diagnosis of diseases in horticultural crops. In the research area, the institute has been engaged in the study of fruit species, evaluation, introduction, and breeding of varieties of apricots, peaches, pears, plums, and rootstocks for a long time. A significant part of these activities includes research focused on the resistance of the genus Prunus to viral plums‘ sharka disease and the issue of the ESFY phytoplasma. Genebanks of apricots, peaches, and collections of Asian pears and Asian plums are used for study and research activities. Also, introducing subtropical and unconventional fruit species is among the essential activities.
What will be your job role?
- preparation and implementation of field and laboratory experiments focused on the growth, development, and quality of fruit crops
- sampling (leaves, fruits, soil) and their analysis
- processing the obtained data
- collaborating with researchers on the preparation of reports, presentations, and scientific publications
- maintenance and calibration of laboratory and field equipment
What do we expect from you?
- master’s degree in natural/agricultural sciences
- active knowledge of Czech and English
- ability to work independently in the field, collect data, and evaluate and process them
- publishing activity
- honest and ethical approach to work
