IPHYS is a leading research institute in the field of normal and pathological physiology. It consists of a number of scientific and service departments and shared equipment for the research (http://www.fgu.cas.cz/en/).

The Laboratory of Molecular Physiology of Bone led by Dr. Michaela Tencerova is focused on studying the physiological role of bone marrow adipose tissue in relation to bone and fat metabolism in metabolic complications (https://www.fgu.cas.cz/en/departments/laboratory-of-molecular-physiology-of-bone).

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Specialist to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge research. The successful applicant will work in an international and friendly environment. The research project will involve work with murine and human cellular systems (bone marrow stromal stem cells) and transgenic animal models.

Research Specialist in Molecular Physiology of Bone

Responsibilities:

·     Performing administrative tasks necessary for running the laboratory, including ordering and maintaining reagents and consumables
·     Conducting wet-lab experiments, including in vitro cell culture and ex vivo cellular and tissue characterization (RNA and protein analysis, RNA isolation, Western blotting, flow cytometry, microscopy, histology)
·     Managing mouse colonies, including genotyping
·     Participating in collaborative activities related to the design and execution of experiments
·     Learning and implementing new methods
·     Working as part of a team and supporting colleagues in related projects

Position Requirements:

·     At least a master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, medicine, or a related field
·     Strong motivation for scientific research and intellectual curiosity
·     Advanced experience with molecular biology techniques (RNA and protein analysis), in vitro cell culture methods, cloning, CRISPR technology
·     Experience working with laboratory animals (mouse husbandry, handling and basic interventions) is an advantage
·     Good command of English; knowledge of Czech is an advantage
·     Computer literacy, including experience with statistical software
