The Dean of the First Faculty of Medicine is publishing the academic recruitment procedure for the position of:
Bursar of the Faculty
The appointment to the post is expected on 1 January 2026.
This is a function in accordance with section 32 of Act no. 111/1998 Sb., Act on Higher Education Institutions, as amended.
The scope of work activities and responsibilities of the Bursar of the Faculty is defined by the internal regulations of the Faculty, by the Organizational Rules of the Dean’s Office of the Faculty (Dean’s regulation no. 20/2024).
The function corresponds to the position of COO (Chief Operation Officer).
Job description of the Bursar of the Faculty:
· management and internal administration of the Faculty
· management of assets conferred to the Faculty
· preparation and control of the Faculty annual budget of approx. CZK 1.3 billion, preparation of materials for allocation of funding and monitoring of spending
· assessment of activities of the Dean’s Office and of the Faculty, cooperation on their economic and administrative development
· cooperation on investment and development project planning
· management of the Dean’s Office – a team of 10 co-workers (another approximately 300 people report indirectly to the Dean’s Office)
· being a strategic partner to the Rectorate of Charles University and to partner hospitals
Qualification requirements:
University education (academic titles Ing. or Mgr. required), education in economics, basic knowledge of law (especially in the field of universities), human resources and IT are a plus
Experience in the field of finances, management, and administration, preferably in the field of higher education or public administration, possibly healthcare
Knowledge of the institutional environment is a plus
Team leadership experience
Ability to draft budgets
Knowledge of operational and project management
Ability to systematically coordinate activities and ability of leadership (cooperation with other teams and members of the Faculty management), knowledge of negotiation processes is a plus
Ability to solve problems autonomously, creative, and analytical thinking and skills
Active knowledge of English, ability to have a meeting or to conduct basic negotiations orally and in writing
Advanced user level of IT skills, ability to master specific software in a short period of time
Excellent communication, negotiation, and administrative skills
Reliability, high commitment, responsible attitude
Excellent time management skills, resistance to stress
Moral and civic integrity

The candidate will be asked to present the original documents at the oral interview.
Recruitment procedure:
The procedure is governed by legal regulations, especially the Rules of the Academic Recruitment Procedure of Charles University. Selected candidates will be invited for an oral interview, where they will present their visions, competencies, and previous career experience necessary to handle this role.
