Non-academic position at the Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology and Geobiocoenology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology
Research area: Tropical floristics and vegetation ecology, especially on the island of Socotra, as well as in other tropical regions (Africa, Asia, South America)
The Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology, and Geobiocoenology focuses on the genetics, anatomy, morphology, physiology, and taxonomy of plants, vegetation ecology, geobiocoenology, and nature conservation. What will your responsibilities be?
- active involvement in the tropical team projects at the department
- collection of floristic and vegetation field data, their analysis, including processing into publication outputs
- collaboration on project applications as a coordinator and as a member of the research team
- geographically, the focus will be on the island of Socotra, where the department has been working for a long time
What do we expect from you?
- Ph.D. degree focusing on environmental and evolutionary biology
- independent publication activity
- experience with project implementation in tropical countries
- experience with field botanical surveys
- advanced knowledge of GIS applications (ESRI ArcView, ArcGIS, QGIS, ENVI, Google Earth Engine)
- knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- experience with analytical and specialized tools (R/RStudio, Turboveg, JUICE) and laboratory methods (DNA extraction from plant tissues)
- basics of bioinformatics and processing sequencing data
- very good knowledge of the English language
