Non-academic position at the Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology and Geobiocenology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology
Research area: agroforestry
We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.
The Department of Forest Botany, Dendrology and Geobiocenology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Mendel University in Brno is looking for a candidate to join the international project ClimaPannonia (project no. 101156281, Horizon Europe programme). The project focuses on promoting the resilience of agricultural and forest ecosystems in the Pannonian region to the impacts of climate change. The aim is to implement comprehensive, systemic measures with an emphasis on sustainable landscape management.
What will be your job role?
- implementation of research experiments in a project team focused on agroforestry with links to international working groups
- independent creative and research work in the field of socio-economic aspects of agroforestry systems
- independent collecting of field data from pilot agroforestry plots, their processing and analysis
- preparation of scientific publications, reports and presentations related to the research project
- participation in professional conferences, seminars and popularization of research results
- providing of administrative and technical support for research projects
- active participation in project meetings and preparation of grant applications
What are our requirements?
- Master’s degree in forestry, ecology, agriculture, environmental sciences or related field, PhD studies in progress
- excellent knowledge of Czech language
- active knowledge of English and Spanish, both written and spoken (at least B2 level)
- experience in laboratory work including sample processing, data analysis and working with laboratory equipment
- experience in research activities in agroforestry, forestry, environmental or energy policy and/or socio-
- economic aspects of land use
- active knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of statistical or analytical tools (e.g. R, SPSS, NVivo, QGIS)
- publication activity, ability to write scientific articles, reports, project applications
Required research experience:
- experience in the realization of agroforestry experiments

Job status: 0,2 (8 hours per week)
Expected start: September 2025
Employment contract: fixed term for 3 years (according to the duration of the project)
