Mendel University in Brno announces a selection procedure for the position of non-academic staff member:

Project Researcher I for the Department of Geology and Pedology, Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology

Research field: Forestry, Ecology, Pedology

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

We are looking for a new person to join our friendly and dynamically developing team as a Project Researcher I who will work with us on the project „White fir as a tree species for species conversion of forest stands in the Czech Republic and the effect of applied regeneration cuts in interaction with forest habitat conditions on its growth, vigour, resistance to phytopathogens and development of mycorrhizal associations, Reg.No: QL24010275“.

What will you do?

  • independently solve the assigned research task in the project
  • preparation and execution of field and laboratory work, collection and processing of soil samples and laboratory analysis
  • installing and maintaining soil sensors
  • processing and editing the collected data
  • participate in the preparation of the annual reports and the final report

What do we expect from you and what research experience do we need?

  • advanced Czech language
  • Bachelor’s degree in the required field (forestry, agriculture, pedology, ecology, geography, etc.)
  • experience of scientific research in the field
  • ability to work as part of a project team and follow up on assigned tasks
  • interest in gaining practical experience of working on a research project
  • ability to work independently and in a team
  • good communication skills and motivation
