Přehled

The Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences is looking for a new colleague to join The terahertz spectroscopy group to carry out far-field and near-field time-resolved experiments and participate in the development of new experiments in the terahertz lab. The position is linked to a research grant of Czech Science Foundation on graphene plasmonics.

What will you do

  • The research will be focused on experimental studies of the plasmonics in lithographically prepared variously patterned epitaxial graphene nanostructures and some other 2D materials
  • The candidate should be able to master our custom-made THz setups (steady-state Thz spectroscopy, optical pump – THz probe spectroscopy, multi-THz (two-color air-based) setup and THz-SNOM spectroscopy and imaging) and carry out studies in selected structures
  • The candidate should be also able to actively participate in building new time-resolved THz experiments
Strong participation of the candidate on the interpretation of the results is expected

What do we expect

  • PhD in solid state physics, materials science or optics
  • Demonstrated experience with THz spectroscopy and/or ultrafast optical experiments, not only as a pure user: an experience with setting up and alignments of such experiments is also required.
  • Experience with local-probe microscopy (AFM or similar) can be an advantage
  • Experience with the spectroscopy of solid state
  • Very good spoken and written English
  • Keen to learn new physics and methods, ability to solve problems independently

Why to join us

  • Access to equipment and facilities.
  • A collaborative and international research environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and involvement in high-impact research projects.
  • We support further education
