Our research focuses on understanding the role of fluorine in modulating hydrogen bonding and conformational preferences in carbohydrates, particularly in oligosaccharides. We aim to synthesize oligosaccharides in which fluorine substituents are regio- and stereoselectively installed in positions where they can influence oligosaccharide hydrogen bonding and conformation. We study the impact of fluorine on the oligosaccharide hydrogen bond network and conformation by spectroscopic methods, especially NMR spectroscopy. Potential applications should identify a suitable oligosaccharide scaffold and positions for introducing fluorine and suggest feasible synthetic methods to prepare the target fluorinated oligosaccharides.
The Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS is a public research institution that specializes in chemical and environmental engineering, and materials chemistry. Who can apply?
- Must have been awarded or successfully defended their Ph.D. in chemistry by 9 September 2026
- No more than 8 years of full-time research experience since receiving PhD
- Must not have lived or worked in the Czech Republic for more than 12 months over the past 3 years
