Přehled

The Nuclear Physics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences (NPI) in Řež is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow or research scientist to join the Tandetron Laboratory, specializing in ion beam techniques for material characterization and modification, with a special focus on 2D material engineering. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with ion beam technologies, contributing to fundamental and applied research in advanced materials and nanotechnology.

The Tandetron Laboratory at NPI is a leading center in Czechia for ion beam applications in materials science, providing expertise in ion implantation, radiation-induced material modifications, and thin-film engineering. The selected candidate will be involved in developing new methodologies for modifying 2D materials, enhancing their electronic, structural, and functional properties through precise ion-beam techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental research in ion beam modification and characterization of 2D materials.
  • Apply ion implantation and irradiation techniques to engineer material properties.
  • Utilize high-resolution analytical methods, including Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy (RBS), Elastic Recoil Detection Analysis (ERDA), and Particle Induced X-ray emission (PIXE).
  • Develop innovative approaches to material modification for applications in electronics, catalysis, and advanced sensors.
  • Publish findings in high-impact scientific journals and present results at international conferences.
  • Engage in collaborative projects with national and international research teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in materials science, solid-state physics, nuclear physics, or nanotechnology.
  • Expertise in ion beam techniques for material analysis and modification.
  • Experience in thin-film synthesis, defect engineering, and ion irradiation studies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a critical approach to experimental data.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated through scientific publications and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research teams.
