We are seeking an Instrument Scientist for neutron diffraction research specializing in strain/stress characterization. As part of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the Neutron Physics Laboratory (NPL) offers access to state-of-the-art neutron scattering facilities within the CANAM user infrastructure.

We are looking for a motivated scientist to take responsibility for operating the neutron diffractometer and to participate in research on deformations and stresses in technologically significant materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Active involvement in experiments using the neutron diffractometer SPN-100 at HRZK4
- Collaboration with external researchers and analysis of micro- and macro-stresses in materials
- Development and modernization of measuring techniques and automated diffractometer control
- Opportunity to develop your own research program in strain/stress analysis and related fields
Required Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in materials research, physics, or chemistry (or close to obtaining the degree)
- Scientific publishing in international journals
- Technical skills, precision, and independence
