Academic position at the Department of Animal Nutrition and Forage Science, Faculty of AgriSciences

Research field:

  • conducting experiments in the field of animal nutrition and feeding, with emphasis on the study of cereals with unusual grain colouring
  • the effect of different feed mixtures on animal metabolism
  • the environmental impact of feeding alternative protein sources to livestock
  • the influence of the addition of various substances to feedstuffs on the health status, production parameters and internal environment of animals
  • stabilisation of roughage production and sustainable intensification of agricultural production

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department of Animal Nutrition and Forage Production provides educational and scientific activities in the field of nutrition of livestock and other animals – including its influence on the composition and quality of animal products; animal health and metabolism; technology of feed production, preservation, storage and processing; feed consultancy; animal nutrition in organic farming and in the field of forage and turf farming. The Department provides teaching in Czech and English at all levels (bachelor, master and doctoral) of the Faculty of Agriculture and selected subjects also at other faculties of the University. The Department also carries out laboratory and experimental activities related to animal nutrition and health.

What will you do?

  • teaching in the Czech language
  • training of doctoral students (at the level of supervisor specialist)
  • conducting qualification theses
  • submission of grant applications and project solutions
  • scientific research and publication activities

What are our requirements?

  • PhD in animal nutrition and feeding
  • ability to teach in Czech language
  • ability to teach and publish in English language
  • experience of working in a laboratory, including sample processing, data analysis and working with laboratory equipment
  • practical experience in research
  • ability to perform statistical analysis and data evaluation at an advanced level
  • certificate of professional competence in experimental design and trial projects under the Act for the Protection of Animals Against Cruelty
  • knowledge of grants, fellowships or other funding opportunities in the field of expertise
  • experience with submitting and managing grant projects, organising and conducting experiments in the field of animal nutrition, bulk fodder conservation
  • authorship/co-authorship of articles in scientific journals

Job status: full time (40 hours per week)
