Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Science MU is opening 1 postdoctoral position associated to a research project.
About the position
The successful candidate will be based in Marek Filakovský’s group working on Topological methods in Discrete Mathematics and conduct research related to problems in Combinatorics, Graph theory and aspects of the Constraint Satisfaction Problem (CSP) with emphasis on topological methods. Further, the applicant will be able to pursue their independent research and collaborate with other members of the department and at the Faculty of Informatics. A broader networking connection is available with groups in Dresden, Leipzig, Prague and Vienna.

Key Duties
- To drive independent and collaborative research within the group’s thematic focus
- To develop and refine methods to address new mathematical questions
- To contribute to publications, proposals, and joint projects with internal and external partners
- To present and discuss results at seminars and conferences, help organize events
- To help foster a collegial research environment
Skills and Qualifications
The applicant must have:
- PhD Degree in in Mathematics or a closely related field, awarded no earlier than 8 years ago (exceptions due to personal circumstances may apply)
- Strong track record of research accomplishments commensurate with their career stage
- Expertise in areas related but not restricted to Discrete Mathematics (CSP, Graph Theory and Combinatorics) and Algebraic Topology
- Programming skills are welcome.
- Communication skills (oral and written) in English
