IPHYS is one of the leading biomedical research institutions in the fields of neuroscience, metabolism and cardiovascular physiology in the Czech Republic. Using molecular, cellular and animal models, we tackle basic biological mechanisms to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of serious non-infectious diseases including autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, ischemic heart disease, diabetes or inherited metabolic disorders. Moreover, IPHYS holds an important role in the education of undergraduate and graduate students and health care workers.

How to apply?

PhD candidates are encouraged to choose up to 3 PhD projects from an annotated list found at https://fgu.cas.cz/en/phd-study/ and apply through a web portal (link at the site, or: https://provider.img.cas.cz/iphys/phd-application/). The candidates will be notified by the end of March 2026 and the successful applicants will be helped to apply to a university-administered, tuition-free PhD program (mostly at the Charles University in Prague), supported by a university stipend and a salary and benefits from IPHYS. PhD program starts in October 2026.
