Tentative Thesis Title:
Advanced Quantum Monte Carlo Simulations of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems

What We Offer:
·     A fully-funded PhD position (no tuition fees)

·     Initial net monthly salary of 25,000 CZK (~1,000 EUR/month), corresponding to approximately 34,000 CZK gross

  • Includes medical and social insurance, 30 days of vacation, 5 sick days, and meal support
  •  This is a guaranteed minimum; the total monthly income may increase based on performance (e.g. publication bonuses, additional scholarships)
  • The initial salary corresponds to the average PhD scholarship in the Czech Republic and covers standard living expenses

·     Membership in the Nanostructure Physics Group

·     Funded travel support for attending conferences, workshops, or research visits

·     Access to state-of-the-art supercomputing facilities

·     Opportunities to engage in teaching activities

·     Involvement in the Life & Environment Research Center Ostrava project, specifically within Research Program 3 – Modeling and Simulations

Requirements:
·     A Master’s degree in physics, computational physics, materials science, quantum chemistry, or related disciplines

·     Strong background in computational and theoretical methods

·     Proven programming skills (object-oriented programming, Python, C/C++)

·     Experience with atomistic simulations using quantum chemistry or plane-wave codes (e.g., Gaussian, GAMESS, Quantum Espresso, VASP)

·     Proficient English communication skills (oral and written)

·     Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
