Overview
The Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals invites candidates to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Host Researcher: Petra Vondráková Pokorná, Ph.D.
Head of Research Group: Dr. Vladimír Ždímal
Research keywords: Atmospheric aerosol, Chemical composition, State-of-the art aerosol instrumentation, Near-real-time receptor modelling, Background sites
The Research Group of Aerosol Chemistry and Physics focuses on better understanding the behaviour of atmospheric aerosols (AA). One of the areas of group’s research is focused on source apportionment of size-resolved AA based on mass concentration data, chemical composition and particle number size distribution. The application of receptor models using AA chemical and physical characteristics data at the measurement site, receptor, combined with meteorological and other indicators, is appropriate to explain temporal and spatial changes in air quality.
Possible postdoctoral project focus:
The project will be focused on near-real-time source apportionment using receptor models at background sites (urban and rural). The postdoc will be responsible for the highly-time resolved chemical data modelling as well as involved in the operation and maintenance of state-of-the art aerosol instrumentation (aerosol spectrometers, elemental monitors and aethalometer).
The Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS is a public research institution that specializes in chemical and environmental engineering, and materials chemistry. In addition to systematic fundamental research, the institute also engages in applied research and strives to support the next generation of scientists through training programs for Ph.D. students. Thanks to its interdisciplinary approach, the institute promotes technological innovations, addresses environmental and societal challenges, and encourages collaboration between academia, industry and, society.
