The dean of the Faculty of Science, Humanities and Education announces an open competition for the following academic position:

LECTURER or ASSISTANT PROFESSOR FOR THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

 

Place of work:    English Department, Faculty of Science, Humanities and Education, Technical University of Liberec

Number of positions:     1

Workload:     100 % (40 hours/week)

Salary:   payment category A2 or A3

  • in accordance with the university’s internal salary regulations and the academic title(s) and degrees held at the time of application
  • personal premium (dependent on regular assessment of work performance)

Employment contract:           fixed-term, until August 31, 2026, with possible extensions

Start of employment:             September 2023 (negotiable)

What will your job entail?

  • educational activities – teaching core subjects and other courses in the field of English linguistics
  • active research and regular publications in the field
  • continuous self-education

We require:

  • university education in a relevant field of linguistics or applied linguistics; for the position of lecturer being enrolled in a doctoral program; for the position of assistant professor, holding a doctoral degree (ISCED 8, e.g. Ph.D., CSc., Dr., Dr.phil.)
  • Expertise in English linguistics, the English language, English philology, general linguistics, or a similar linguistic discipline
  • work experience in the field
  • publications on English linguistics
  • interest in teaching, teaching skills
  • creativity and an ability to work in teams
  • independence, flexibility and reliability

  • brief overview of research and teaching experience
  • copies of all academic degrees and titles,
  • proof of membership in professional associations and academic societies (if any),
  • assessment of performance from previous employers and/or letters of recommendation (optional),
  • list of publications (if possible and relevant, including bibliometric data or some other form of citation analysis)

Information about the selection process:

In the first round of selection, candidates are ranked on the basis of their application packages submitted in writing. If a second round needs to be held, it takes the form of an oral interview with the strongest candidates. All applicants are informed about the results no later than thirty days after the conclusion of the selection procedure.
