Academic Position at the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Business and Economics

Research Area: cybersecurity

The Department of Informatics primarily provides education in computer science study programs at the Faculty of Business and Economics of Mendel University in Brno. It also partially teaches specialized IT courses for economic study programs. The courses are taught in both Czech and English. In addition to teaching activities, it focuses on research and development, particularly in the areas of mobile applications, web technologies, and Industry 4.0. It emphasizes the utilization of methods from the field of artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and innovative communication methods with users.

What will your job responsibilities be?

  • conducting lectures and seminars in the study program Information Systems/ICT Administration (Bachelor’s) and Open Informatics (Bachelor’s, Master’s), particularly focusing on courses related to network management, cybersecurity, operating systems, as well as software development, data processing, and visualization (not necessarily for all of the mentioned areas)
  • preparing materials for seminars and evaluating teaching and content assessment
  • creating electronic teaching materials
  • supervising students‘ final theses (in the role of assistant)
  • developing educational as well as scientific-research and creative activities in the respective area

What do we expect from you?

  • higher education in the IT field or a related field at least at the level of a follow-up master’s degree (assistant) or bachelor’s study program (lecturer)
  • excellent knowledge of the Czech language, advanced knowledge of English – ability to conduct lectures (assistant), seminars, and engage in fluent discussions in the professional area
  • ability to conduct lectures (assistant), seminars at the university
  • ability to supervise students‘ theses focused on cybersecurity
  • research/teaching/practical knowledge in the field of cybersecurity – demonstrable experience of at least one year (teaching, practice management experience, etc.)

What research experience do we require?

  • at least one publication output in a peer-reviewed journal or conference (assistant)
  • or professional practice of at least 5 years and a willingness to start research in the relevant area

What additional qualifications do we appreciate?

  • industrial certifications obtained in the field of cybersecurity or computer networks and operating systems (e.g., CCNA, CCNP Enterprise, CCSA, CEH, JNCIS-SEC, LPIC-x, PenTest+, Security+, etc.), or knowledge at their level

Expected start date: February 2026, or by agreement

Duration of employment: for a limited period of 2 years, with the possibility of extension to an indefinite period
