At LAM-X we focus on the development of photo-active antimicrobial nanotextiles. Our goal is to use our innovative technology to disrupt the market with applications in medical devices and air/water filtration. We are seeking for a Junior R&D specialist who can help us in our mission to stop infections and reduce the use of antibiotics worldwide. The ideal candidate will be someone able to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment. Candidates with a relevant background in (polymer) chemistry/material science will be considered.

Responsibilities:

Experimental multidisciplinary work including:

  • Conducting research on synthetic and bio-polymers suitable for production of nanofibers by electrospinning
  • Gathering information that can be used to develop new materials or enhance existing ones.
  • Experimental work, e.g. preparation of photoactive polymeric nanofiber materials by electrospinning, characterization of the prepared materials, evaluation of their photooxidative properties if appropriate
  • Literature search on assigned topics, preparation of R&D proposals
  • Independent work on R&D projects related to antimicrobial nanomaterials
  • Careful keeping of laboratory records, communication with external partners
  • Formulation of conclusions for further R&D work and recommendations for company management, writing experimental reports, protocols and research publications
  • Assistance with ensuring smooth operation of chemical lab, laboratory maintenance, general laboratory activities and duties

Required hard skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Tertiary education preferably in polymer chemistry/material science or related fields
  • 3+ years of experience in research & development including work on PhD thesis
  • PhD is a plus but not required
  • Strong background in chemistry and data analysis
  • Background in nanotechnology/biotechnology/medicinal chemistry is a plus
  • Previous experience with experimental work in chemical lab is a must
  • Scientific literature writing
  • PC skills: Origin, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point….
  • English – B1/B2 level at minimum
  • Previous work experience in private sector is a plus but not required
