Dean of Faculty of Materials Science and Technology VSB – Technical University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure for a post of Head of the Department of Materials Engineering and Recycling (an academic position involving the role of Head of Department at the same time). The position is suitable for both women and men.

Job Description:

  • Leading the department in accordance with the provisions of Article 21, § 4 of the FMT Statue
  • Responsibility for the operation of the department in accordance with § 302 of the Labor Code
  • Teaching activities
  • Scientific-research activities
  • Project management
  • Publishing activities

Full time equivalent:                                  1.0
Type of job contract:                                 fixed-term employment contract with the possibility of extension
Head of Department for the period 1. 11. 2025 – 31. 10. 2028
Expected start of employment:             1. 11. 2025 or as agreed

We require:

  • Ph.D. in a field relevant to the scientific, research, and teaching activities of the department
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience at a university
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the fieldScientific and publishing activities
  • Knowledge of one world language at a minimum of B2 level
  • In-person participation in selection procedures
  • Organizational and managerial skills

Curriculum vitae focused on professional and teaching experience, copies of documents proving qualifications, a summary of teaching activities, an overview of scientific and professional work (especially from the last 5 years), a list of completed international scientific or professional internships, extracts from the WoS and SCOPUS databases, an overview of research projects undertaken, a motivation letter, and a development plan for the department for the period 2025–2028 should be sent to: eva.rozbrojova@vsb.cz until 15. 10. 2025.

The selection procedure will take the form of a presentation in which each candidate will present their vision for the development of the department in the areas of research, teaching, and personnel management to the selection committee.
