Job Description
The candidate for the head of the Czech Collection of Microorganisms (CCM) must be an expert with professional experience in the field of research on microorganisms.
The Head of the Czech Collection of Microorganisms will be responsible for the management and development of the collection, ensuring its professional, research and academic activities, coordinating cooperation with academic and industrial partners and representing the CCM at the national and international level. The agenda also includes supporting educational activities and involving the CCM in research projects.
During the selection process, the candidates will present their concept for the development and functioning of the Czech Collection of Microorganisms.
Skills and Qualifications
The applicant must have:
- Completed university education in biology
- Research practice focusing on research on microorganisms
- Academic degree Ph.D. or equivalent
- Personal and professional qualifications for leading and developing the team of the workplace
- Experience with teaching and prerequisites for guaranteeing professional subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Scientific and publishing activities in the field
- Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
- Moral and civic integrity
Other qualifications assessed during the selection process, the fulfillment of which is an advantage:
- Experience in leading a scientific team or research infrastructure
- Proven organizational skills and other demonstrable professional qualifications for managing the operation of the Czech Collection of Microorganisms
- Experience with submitting research projects (national or international)
- Active research and publication activities
- Scientific reputation and contacts in the international field
- Foreign experience
- Experience with extremophile research and connections to polar research (thanks to CCM’s close cooperation with the Czech Antarctic Program)
