Institute of Psychology, The Czech Academy of Sciences – Full-time postdoc position
The Prague branch of the Institute of Psychology, Czech Academy of Sciences, is recruiting for a full-time postdoc position that will be funded until the end of 2028. The salary is internationally competitive (equivalent to EUR 2100-2700/month depending on experience and exact plan). The position is in a lab focused on early acquisition of grammar and lexicon, and the ideal candidate would have some experience with EEG/ERP or fNIRS data and interest in doing experiments with children and adults using these methods.
The applicants are expected to work towards developing their own research profile that should be to some extent (but not necessarily completely) related to the research areas described below:
- early knowledge of grammatical morphemes and word categories, identification of earliest forms of gender/number marking (eye-tracking: preferential looking/looking-while-listening),
- use of grammatical gender, number and case in predictive processing and syntactic bootstrapping,
- phonological bootstrapping of grammatical categories,
- early sensitivity to grammatical dependencies,
- combining and comparing eye-tracking methods with neural methods (EEG/ERP and fNIRS are available in the lab).
Knowledge of Czech is not required but we expect interest in working on Czech and possibly other morphologically rich languages. The position holders will be expected get familiar with the structure of Czech to be able to design studies and experiments. Experience with data processing and preparation for statistical analyses and some experience with statistics (R, Julia) is desirable.
