Overview
Our team currently consists of four members: the head of the Open Science Center, a university data steward, an Open Access specialist, and an open repository administrator. We are looking for someone to join our friendly team who, after training, will effectively provide support to researchers and doctoral students at the university. The position will be filled as part of the project Building Academic Infrastructure for Research and Innovation, Leadership, and Effective Coordination of the Research Environment, reg. no. CZ.02.01.01/00/23_026/0011485.
What will be your job role?
Direct assistance to research teams in:
- organizing and structuring research data in projects
- creating documentation and metadata
- setting up backup and archiving processes
- preparing and sharing data in accordance with FAIR principles
- systematically managing, documenting, evaluating the quality and completeness of datasets, and ensuring data accessibility in accordance with internal and industry standards
- cooperating with the university data steward in implementing institutional strategies in the field of RDM (Research Data Management)
- supporting researchers in the use of data management tools
- involvement in training, preparation of strategic documents, documentation, and infrastructure development (Data Stewardship Wizard tool) for data support
- setting field recommendations for research data management
What do we expect from you?
- completed Master’s degree, ideally ongoing or completed Ph.D. studies in the field of social sciences
- active knowledge of English at C1 level
- at least basic knowledge of the Czech language
- experience working with large data sets or quantitative/qualitative analysis
- advanced computer literacy with a positive attitude towards IT
- responsible and careful approach to working with data
- proactive approach, willingness to continue learning
- ability to work effectively across teams and independently take responsibility for assigned tasks
What additional skills we appreciate?
- knowledge of open science principles and FAIR data
- active knowledge of statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata, Python)
- lecturing and presentation skills
- familiarity with national or international data repositories and metadata standards
- previous experience in an academic environment
- knowledge of available tools and procedures for data management

Expected start date: October 2025
Duration of employment: for a fixed term of 1 year with the possibility of extension until the end of the project on June 30, 2029
Workload: 1,0 (40 hours per week), or lower (min. 0,5)

The ideal candidate is a person with a university degree (at least a master’s degree) in natural sciences, ideally a doctoral student, postdoctoral fellow, or Ph.D. graduate (e.g., biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, chemistry, biology).
