Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Applied and Landscape Ecology

Research field: agroecology, environmental protection and environmental security (primarily fire ecology)

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

The Department was founded in 1990 in response to the society-wide need for a comprehensive understanding of the agricultural landscape in the intentions of sustainable development. Members of the department guarantee bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Agroecology. The research priorities of the Department are landscape exploration in various contexts, landscape engineering and environmental safety. The Department carries out a wide range of experimental activities in the field and in laboratories and operates a water management and pedological laboratory, including a hydraulic circuit.

What will be your job role?

  • conducting lectures and exercises on agroecological and environmental topics
  • cooperation on lectures in Czech and English
  • supervising, consulting and opposing student theses
  • developing educational, scientific research and creative activities in the field
  • active participation in research projects and grants
  • publishing in the form of bibliometric and non-bibliometric results in the field of landscape ecology and environmental protection

What are our requirements?

  • a university degree at Ph.D. level in Applied and Landscape Ecology or related field
  • at least 4 years of experience in the field, including direct teaching
  • excellent knowledge of Czech language at C1 level and English language at B2 level
  • experience in supervising student theses
  • ability to produce applied outputs
  • experience in project work
  • publication activity
  • ability to work with MS Office, especially statistical data analysis

Required research experience:

  • experience in working on projects related to agroecology, environmental safety
  • experience in field research – data collection

Job status: 0,5 (20 hours per week)

Expected start: September 2025

Employment contract: fixed term till 31.8.2028
