Academic position at the Department of Horticultural Machinery, Faculty of Horticulture
Research Area: Agriculture and horticulture focusing on the mechanization of production systems, renewable energy sources, energy crops, and sustainable agricultural production technologies
The department provides education in general subjects aimed at broadening the knowledge and insights of students necessary for mastering further studies of specialized subjects. Specialized subjects prepare students to solve problems related to the cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest treatment, and processing of horticultural crops, including basic information on the ecological aspects of horticultural production. The subjects taught are intended for all study programs. In the field of scientific research activities, the department conducts research on technical aspects related to the cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest treatment, and processing of horticultural crops, waste management, energy, and civil engineering.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Preparation of materials and leading classes (exercises, seminars, and selected lectures) in specialized subjects in the field of agricultural engineering, energy systems, and sustainable technologies in agriculture
- Supervision and evaluation of students‘ final theses
- Creative activity in the given field
- Active searching, preparation, and implementation of grant projects and contractual research projects
- Publication of results in scientific and professional journals, presentation of results at seminars, domestic and international conferences
What do we expect from you?
- Master’s degree in engineering or agriculture with a focus on mechanization of production systems, renewable energy sources, energy crops, and sustainable agricultural technologies, or successful completion of an ongoing postgraduate study within 1 year from employment commencement, or starting postgraduate study within 1 year from employment commencement
- Very good level of oral and written communication in both Czech and English
- Ability to work independently and in a team, constructively and responsively
- Positive and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Experience with presenting results of creative activities
- Good computer skills (MS Office, Adobe, Internet, optionally AutoCAD)
- Attention to detail, reliability, and organizational abilities
What research experience do we require?
- Experience in the field of horticulture focusing on mechanization of production systems, renewable energy sources, energy crops, and sustainable agricultural production; basic experience in resolving grant projects and contractual research assignments
What additional skills would be appreciated?
- Professional experience in teaching or professional experience in agricultural engineering and renewable energy
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally and in one’s career
- Driver’s license for cars

Number of vacancies: 1
Expected start date: October 2026 or by agreement
Length of employment: fixed-term for 1 year with the possibility of extension to an indefinite period
