Academic Position at the Department of Landscape Architecture, Faculty of Horticulture
Research Area: urban public space, public space systems, urban infrastructure, landscape architecture and garden art, theory and development of art, architecture, and urbanism
The Department of Landscape Architecture is an established creative and research workplace with a comprehensive scope of expertise. In its activities, the department consistently integrates theoretical research with creative practice, emphasizing a balance between ecological sustainability, aesthetic value, and the quality of public space. This approach is applied across the entire field, from the preservation of historical heritage to the design of healthy and aesthetically valuable environments for contemporary society. The identity of the department is defined by an emphasis on studio-based teaching, international cooperation, and solving real assignments in a multidisciplinary context. Key priorities include current civilizational challenges, especially the adaptation of settlements to climate change, the application of blue-green infrastructure, the development of public space systems, and sustainable development of urbanized landscapes.

What will your job involve?
- leading exercises and seminars
- assisting/leads groups of students in design studios
- supervising and assessing students’ final theses
- involvement in the research and teaching activities of the department
- publishing and presenting the results of professional and research activities
- active participation in conferences and seminars
- exhibition activities
- organizing and leading public events and collaborating on other department activities
- collaboration in internal working groups according to the individual focus, experience, and skills of the applicant (PR, science, and research, etc.)
What do we expect from you?
- completed master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or an equivalent field
- teaching skills, motivation to work with students
- experience in independent creative work in the area of planning and designing landscape architecture objects, or architecture, construction, and urbanism
- practical experience with implementations in the field of landscape architecture, or architecture, construction, and urbanism
- excellent communication skills and knowledge of Czech at a high level
- ability to work responsibly and reliably in a team as well as independently, based on a brief/work task
- involvement in the scientific-research activities of the workplace
- ability to work in at least some programs commonly used by landscape architects (AutoCAD (CAD), GIS (QGIS, ArcGIS), 3D modeling (SketchUp, Rhinoceros), visualization (Lumion, Twinmotion), graphic programs (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), BIM tools (Revit, Archicad)

- portfolio of professional publications registered in RIV and/or creative outputs registered in RUV
- experience with preparing, submitting, and solving grant projects
- experience with publishing in professional peer-reviewed publications and publicly presenting the results of
- research and creative activities
- experience with inventive drawing and using sketching in the design process, knowledge of descriptive geometry
- experience in university environments and foreign internships (work, educational, research)
active knowledge of English at a high level

Expected Start Date: July 2026 or by agreement
