Academic Position at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Faculty of AgriSciences

Research Area: biotechnology – plants and microalgae under extreme conditions

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is one of 14 departments at the Faculty of AgriSciences of Mendel University in Brno. The UCB team consists of 80 employees who ensure scientific and educational development in the following areas: biochemistry (both plant and animal) and molecular biology, microbiology, algal and plant biotechnology, nanotechnology, and bioanalytical chemistry. In the educational field, the UCB team is involved in the provision and development of two study programs – undergraduate studies in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and postgraduate studies in Biological Chemistry.

What will your job involve?

  • teaching lectures, exercises, and excursions in the fields of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology
  • collaboration on lectures in Czech and English
  • supervising, consulting, and opposing student theses
  • developing educational and scientific-research and creative activities in the field of biotechnology and
  • biological research in the area of growth and cultivation of plants and microalgae under extreme conditions
  • active participation in the solution of research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • University degree at the doctoral level
  • knowledge of the English language at a minimum level of B1
  • experience in teaching in Czech and English
  • experience in educational and/or scientific-research activities in the field of biotechnology and biological
  • research in the area of growth and cultivation of plants and microalgae under extreme conditions
  • active participation in the solution of research projects and grants
  • publishing results of scientific-research activities in professional journals and at conferences and seminars

What research experience do we require?

  • experience working on scientific-research projects as a researcher/co-researcher or team member
  • proven experience in research in the field of biotechnology or space research for at least 3 years
  • at least 10 publication outputs in professional journals or conferences

Contract duration: fixed term for 3 years
