Academic Position at the Department of Horticultural Machinery, Faculty of Horticulture

Research Area: agriculture and horticulture with a focus on materials, food, and civil engineering

The department provides education in general subjects to expand the knowledge and understanding of students necessary for mastering further studies in specialized subjects. Specialized subjects prepare students to solve problems related to the cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest treatment, and processing of horticultural crops, including basic information on the ecological aspects of horticultural production. The taught subjects are designed for all study programs. In the area of scientific research, the department conducts research on the technical aspects related to the cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest treatment, and processing of horticultural crops, waste management, and civil engineering.

What will your job responsibilities be?

  • preparation of materials and conducting classes (exercises, lectures) in technically oriented subjects in the area of materials, food, and civil engineering
  • supervision and review of student final theses (bachelor’s, master’s)
  • creative work in the given area
  • active searching, preparing, and solving grant projects and contractual research projects
  • publishing results in scientific and professional journals, presenting results at seminars, domestic and international conferences

What do we expect from you?

  • university degree at the Ph.D. level in materials, food, and civil engineering or a related field
  • very good level of oral and written expression in both Czech and English
  • ability to work independently, constructively, and responsibly
  • positive and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • experience in presenting results of creative work
  • good PC skills (MS Office, Adobe, Internet, possibly AutoCAD)

What research experience do we require?

  • experience in research in the field of horticulture with a main focus on machinery and structures, experience with solving grant projects and contractual research tasks

What additional qualities will we appreciate?

  • professional experience in the educational field or professional experience in civil engineering
  • willingness to educate oneself and to develop professionally and career-wise
  • driver’s license for cars
