Research area: bioclimatology
The department has a broad scientific focus aimed at both basic and applied research at the level of crop production technologies, as well as in the area of optimizing various farming systems on arable land, including precision agriculture technologies, as evidenced not only by expert publications but also by scientific outputs for practice such as certified methodologies, maps with specialized content, utility models, and proven technologies. Our experts guarantee a number of contractual research projects in the field of variety testing, fertilizers, and pesticides at the Field Experimental Station in Žabčice. In collaboration with domestic and foreign companies, we conduct land mapping and crop imaging with the possibility of locally targeted applications of plant protection agents and fertilizers. The department’s lecture activity is significant, with staff delivering dozens of lectures annually for both the general and professional public. In the field of pedagogy, the Department of Agrosystems and Bioclimatology provides courses in both Czech and English not only at the Faculty of AgriSciences but also offers subject-specific courses at all faculties of MENDELU.
What will be your job role?
- Leading selected lectures, exercises, and excursions in the fields of agrometeorology and bioclimatology
- Collaboration on lectures in Czech and English
- Supervising, consulting, and reviewing students’ final theses
- Developing educational, scientific research, and creative activities in the given field
- Active participation in submitting and solving research projects and grants
- Publishing results in professional and scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars
What do we expect from you?
- Higher education in the field of geographic cartography, geoinformatics, or meteorology, climatology, with a completed Ph.D.
- Knowledge of the English language at least at level B2
- Presentation experience in both Czech and English
- Development of educational, scientific research, and creative activities in the given field
- Active participation in submitting and solving research projects and grants
- Publishing results of scientific research activities in professional journals and at conferences and seminars
