Department of Experimental Biology at the Faculty of Science MU is a modern, fully equipped workplace where individual research groups conduct research at all levels – from molecules and cells to invertebrates and humans; from basic research to the application of results in human and veterinary biomedicine.

Job Description

Key Duties:

  • Assistant Professor in the Laboratory of Biological and Molecular Anthropology. The position involves working with human skeletal material, cremated burials, and mummified remains
  • Focus on palaeogenetic and palaeoproteomic issues
  • Publishing and fundraising activities
  • Participation in field research and assistance in its organization
  • Teaching within Experimental and Molecular Biology and Human Biology study programs
  • Preparation of material used in exercises
  • Supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses
  • Organizational activities within the framework of teaching and workplace operations

Skills and Qualifications

The applicant must have:

  • PhD degree in Genetics and Molecular Biology, specializing in paleogenetics and paleoproteomics.
  • Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Experience with experimental work and independent project management in the field of ancient DNA and palaeoproteomics, molecular biology, and genetics
  • Publications in the field of paleogenetics, paleoproteomics, and human biology. At least one publication with IF
  • Hardworking, independent, meticulous, reliable, organizational skills
  • Experience and aptitude for teaching at a university
  • Good knowledge of the Czech language; for non-native speakers, a certificate of Czech language proficiency at least at the CCE-B2 level
