Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Planting Design and Maintenance

Research field: technologies and plant use in landscape architecture, habitat ecology

We are a modern university, teaching and researching agriculture, forestry, economic and technical disciplines in regional and international contexts. Since 2018, we have been the holder of the HR Excellence in Research Award for improving employee care, awarded to us as the first Czech university by the European Commission.

Department of Planting Design and Maintenance in its pedagogical, research, artistic and creative activities is focused on the issues of establishment, maintenance, management, evaluation and protection of the green and blue infrastructure in settlements and landscape. Applied research in the field of restoration of monuments of garden and landscape architecture and introduction of new field technologies is also important.

What will be your job role?

  • providing lectures and exercises in the fields of Plant Use (habitat ecology, districtization, forestry typology), Dendrology I-II (tree species and their use in landscape architecture), Planting (improving materials, habitat modification)
  • cooperation on lectures in Czech and English
  • leadership, consultation and opposition of student theses
  • developing educational and scientific research and creative activities in the field
  • active participation in research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and in the form of papers at conferences and seminars

What are our requirements?

  • university education at the level of Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture or Forestry
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English
  • experience with teaching in Czech and English
  • experience with supervising student theses at least as a consultant
  • ability to create applied outputs
  • active participation in scientific projects
  • publishing
  • developing cooperation at international level

Required research experience:

  • experience in research activities in the field, including presentation of results and publications

Job status: 0,7 (28 hours per week)

Expected start: September 2025

Employment contract: fixed term for 3 years with the possibility of extension
