Academic Position at the Department of Management, Faculty of Business and Economics

Research Area: social and behavioral aspects of digitalization – examining changes in human behavior, social interactions, and decision-making in the digital environment, impacts of technology on organizations and the labor market – analysis of the transformation of work roles, processes, management, and new forms of work, cultural, social, and economic phenomena of the digital society – digital identities, inequalities, online communities, new economic models, utilization of quantitative and qualitative methods – collection, analysis, and interpretation of data in management and social scientific research, application of data analysis, experimental methods, and artificial intelligence – development of analytical procedures and applied research based on data and advanced technologies

The Department of Management provides education in management, social sciences, and methodological subjects in both Czech and English study programs at PEF MENDELU. It has a long-term focus on research in the field of digitalization of organizations, work, and society, the social and cultural impacts of new technologies, applied research involving big data, experimental methods, and AI, addressing national and international grants (GAČR, TAČR, Horizon, COST).

What will your job responsibilities be?

  • conducting lectures and seminars focusing on the social and behavioral aspects of digitalization, the impacts of technology on organizations and the labor market, cultural, social, and economic phenomena related to the digital environment, using both quantitative and qualitative methods in management and social scientific research, employing data analysis tools, experimental methods, and artificial intelligence in applied research
  • collaborating on lectures in Czech and English
  • supervising, consulting, and reviewing students‘ theses
  • developing educational, research, and creative activities in the field
  • actively participating in research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and through contributions at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • a university degree in a relevant field (sociology, psychology, economics, management, media studies, or related social sciences) and completed doctoral studies or doctoral studies nearing completion
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English
  • experience in teaching in both Czech and English
  • experience in supervising students‘ theses at least in the role of consultant
  • at least 1–2 years of professional experience in research on digital society, technological impacts, or social
  • scientific analyses (experience may be part of doctoral studies)
  • advanced knowledge of data analysis (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, STATA) and familiarity with artificial intelligence methods or experimental approaches
  • knowledge of social, cultural, and economic aspects of digitalization, including the ability to critically reflect on technological and societal trends
  • active participation in scientific projects
  • publication activity
  • excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, and involvement in an international research environment

What research experience do we require?

  • ability to independently carry out research tasks and prepare research outputs (studies, articles, presentations)
  • experience with both quantitative and qualitative methods – research design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • previous experience in applied research, grant-funded projects, or collaboration with organizations or public administration is an advantage

What additional qualities would we appreciate?

  • experience with grants (GAČR, TAČR, Horizon, COST)
  • experience in teaching courses in methodology and academic skills (aligned with the teaching of Social Analysis, Academic Writing, Methods/Research courses)
  • ability to publish in impact journals, experience with interdisciplinary research on digitalization
    involvement in international networks
