Academic Staff Member – Assistant Professor for the Department of Forest Protection and Wildlife Management

Research field: tree diseases, diagnostics, phylogenetics of tree pathogens, wood decaying fungi, Oomycetes, population genetics of pathogens, plant pathology

The Institute of Forest Conservation and Hunting develops teaching and scientific activities mainly in the fields of forest conservation and stress ecology, phytopathology, forest entomology, hunting, applied zoology, ecology and animal genetics.

What will you do?

  • conducting exercises and seminars at the Department of Forest Protection and Hunting, including field exercises (Forest Phytopathology, Diseases of Woody Plants and Plant Medicine)
  • scientific work in the field of forest phytopathology, plant medicine and tree protection
  • work on national and international projects
  • submission of national and international projects
  • active participation in international scientific conferences
  • cooperation with forestry and arboricultural practice

What are our requirements?

  • a master’s degree in forestry in the field of plant science, biology and ongoing doctoral studies in these fields
  • experience in teaching – 3 semesters of participation in teaching focused on forest phytopathology and plant pathology
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English for conducting exercises and seminars and communicating with application partners
  • knowledge of tree pathogens
  • knowledge of wood fungi
  • knowledge of microbiological technologies for isolation and cultivation of pathogens
  • knowledge and practical experience with molecular genetics techniques – PCR, qPCR, sequencing, NGS
  • 3 years‘ experience in science, proven publication record
  • technology of scientific work – publications in international scientific journals, data processing – adequate ability to apply statistical methods

Required research experience:

  • research in international scientific teams
  • experience of working in scientific projects
  • leading student research teams
  • ensuring laboratory and field work

What else would be appreciated but is not a requirement?

  • Driving licence, active driver
  • certificate for handling chemicals in plant protection
