The Department of Engineering is a modern and a key department within the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology at Mendel University in Brno, boasting a long tradition and a wide thematic range of teaching for students as well as scientific research activities. It is very well staffed and equipped for teaching around forty subjects for various fields of study, including areas outside the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology. In addition to traditional subjects focused on forestry technology and logging, subjects from the fields of ergonomics, bioenergy, wooden constructions, arboriculture, tropical forestry, etc. are taught.

What will be your job role?

  • conducting lectures, exercises, and excursions in fields focused on arboriculture and forestry technology
  • cooperation in lectures in both Czech and English
  • preparation and assessment of written works, tests, and oral examinations
  • supervision, consultation, and evaluation of student seminar and final theses
  • expert, evaluative, and other creative activities
  • developing educational as well as scientific research and creative activities in the field
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and in the form of contributions at conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • a university degree at the Ph.D. level in forestry technology or arboriculture
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English, both written and spoken
  • experience in supervising student final theses, at least in the role of a consultant
  • publishing activity
  • active knowledge of PC operations and MS Office products
  • driving license group B, other groups are welcome

What research experience do we require?

  • ability to develop and innovate research processes in the field
  • experience in presenting research results and their publication in leading impact journals of the field

  • ability to lecture, lead seminars, and effectively convey acquired knowledge to students
  • ability to work in a team as well as independently and finalize assigned tasks successfully
