In accordance with the The Competitive Hiring Process Code of Charles University, the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University announces opening of the following position with submission deadline September 15, 2025
Department offers a friendly working environment with offices at historical center of Prague (Czech Republic) at Lesser Town and at the new building in Troja, where also a brand new fully-equiped robotic lab is located. The applicant is expected to obtain and lead research projects and to connect own research with teaching and supervising students. In justified cases, e.g., if the applicant completes his doctoral studies in the period between the submission of the application and the date of starting the employment relationship, the applicant must provide proof of the completed doctoral studies before signing the employment contract, but no later than 9 months after the application deadline.

Candidates who progress to the second round of the selection procedure will be invited to an interview. The interview may be conducted by means of information and communication technology if justified, at the request of the candidate. The Committee may invite selected candidates to give a lecture to the academic community of the Faculty.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area by the starting date, fluent command of written and spoken English, research and teaching experience in a relevant field, positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate research and teaching activities as well as supervise student theses, excellent publication record in impact journals (such as AIJ, JAIR etc.) and/or proceedings of prestigious computer science conferences (such as IJCAI, AAAI, ICRA, NeurIPS etc.) in relevant fields, experience from foreign academic or research institutions. Experience from collaboration with the industry and some command of Czech are welcome.
Expertise
- Robotics, agent technologies, automated planning, knowledge representation, or machine learning. Basic background in formal methods (logic and/or statistics) and experience with applications is a plus.
