The Department of Applied Mathematics invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of assistant professor in the areas of theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics, and optimization. The expected starting date is September 2026 and is negotiable. We are looking for strong candidates who would complement and/or strengthen existing research areas in our department (which currently includes discrete mathematics, optimization, graph theory, algorithms, computational complexity, computational geometry and topology). Strong candidates from all areas of theoretical computer science, discrete mathematics and optimization will be considered. For further information about our research, see http://kam.mff.cuni.cz/. A successful candidate is expected to pursue an active research program, teach introductory as well as advanced classes, and supervise undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates should have a proven international research record and postdoctoral experience. It is also expected that the successful candidate will apply for local or international grants. The contract duration is three years. Potentially, the position is renewable. In addition, habilitation (promotion to associate professor) and a permanent position are standard possibilities, subject to a separate review process.

Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, research and teaching experience in a relevant field, positive attitude towards pedagogical work, ability to integrate research and teaching activities as well as supervising student theses, publication record in high-quality journals and/or selective conference proceedings in the relevant area, experience from foreign academic or research institutions.
