Academic Position at the Department of Breeding and Genetics, Faculty of AgriScience

Research area: insemination of livestock, breeding and genetics of sheep and goats

The department provides education primarily in specialized breeding-oriented subjects within the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Zootechnics and the doctoral program in General and Special Zootechnics. Academic and research staff participate in the development of scientific knowledge in the area of animal reproduction, in the evaluation and quality of productive traits and conformation of economically significant animal species, and in the optimization of breeding environments aimed at improving the welfare of kept animals.

What will your job entail?

  • delivering lectures, exercises, and excursions in fields focusing on the insemination of livestock, and possibly on the breeding and genetics of sheep and goats
  • collaboration on lectures in both Czech and English
  • supervising, consulting, and reviewing students’ theses
  • developing educational, scientific research, and creative activities in the field
  • active participation in solving research projects and grants
  • publishing results in professional and scientific journals and through contributions to conferences and seminars

What do we expect from you?

  • university education in the field of Zootechnics, General Agriculture, completed or ongoing Ph.D. studies
  • excellent knowledge of Czech and English (ability to teach and create publications)
  • experience in supervising students’ theses, minimally in the role of consultant
  • active participation in scientific projects
  • experience in publishing scientific findings at international symposia and in foreign journals

  • Certification of professional competence for designing experiments and research projects according to § 15 paragraph 3 of Act No. 249/1992 Coll., on the protection of animals against cruelty, as amended
  • Certification of completion of a specialized course in: Insemination and embryo transfer techniques in cattle, sheep, and goats
  • Certification of completion of a specialized course in: Insemination and embryo transfer techniques in horses
  • Certification of completion of a specialized course in: Insemination and embryo transfer techniques in pigs
